About

Everyone has a story. Whether directly or indirectly, via family or friends, most people have been impacted by mental health struggles and/or diagnoses.

Maya Angelou silenced herself as a child. After speaking out about a man who raped her, the man was found dead. While no conviction was made, it is believed that one of Maya’s uncles killed the man. She blamed herself for this murder. For five years, she spoke to no one, expect her brother. It is from her story that we derive the name and purpose of this blog.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.” ~Maya Angelou

Unfortunately, many people choose to remain silent about their own stories as a result of the stigma surrounding mental health.

This blog is designed to provide individuals who want/need to share their story with a platform on which they can. It can provide closure and healing to those who have remained silent. Moreover, these stories helps others to realize they are not alone and there is no reason to be ashamed of their personal story. Stories that are anonymous have real people behind them. However, these individuals have chosen to keep their identify private. These stories can also become the survival guide for those who aren’t ready to share their stories and for those who are still contending for their mental health.
